Exporting since 1970
From Greece to 35 countries and 5 continents
Outward-looking orientation is part of Athenian Brewery’s identity since 1970, when we started to export our products. Since then, hundreds of thousands of consumers enjoy our company’s products across all five continents.
Athenian Brewery is the largest beer exporter in Greece. We distribute quality products in 35 countries, produced by Greek raw materials in our three domestic production facilities.
In 2020, the percentage of exports on total production amounted to 12% of the total volume.
Exports include a number of Athenian Brewery products (Heineken, Amstel, Alfa, Eagle) in various types of packaging (bottles, cans and kegs).
Our exported products are consumed worldwide, from the USA, Uruguay, Paraguay, Colombia, Curacao, St. Maarten to Panama in South America.
Specifically in Africa, Athenian Brewery shipments cover the markets of Kenya, Seychelles, Réunion and the Comoros.
In Europe, we export to countries like Denmark, Sweden, Poland, the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, Serbia, Albania and North Macedonia.
In the Middle East, we export to Israel, Jordan and Iraq, while in the Far East we export to Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, Guam and the Philippines.
Our products are also being exported to Australia.
Malt exports, a new significant activity
At Athenian Brewery, we show trust towards the exceptional product of Greek barley, produced by local cultivators. Thus, we focused on producing malt for export reasons.
Malt exports started in 2019, but now constitute a major activity as we channel significant quantities to countries such as Italy, Austria, Israel and North Macedonia.
At Athenian Brewery, we are constantly making new investments, integrated in our development program in order to further enhance exports.
On the one hand, our goal is to utilize the traditional markets in which we operate and have forged a strong relationship since 1970. While on the other hand, we aim to take advantage of Heineken Group’s global network, in order to significantly increase the volume of exports of final product (beer) or of intermediate raw material (malt).
In order to achieve our goal, we rely on solid foundations that focus on strengthening production activities in Greece, as well as on increasing the exports of Greek products (barley).
The enhancement of our export activity has a positive impact on the employment rate and the creation of new job positions (directly and indirectly), while it boosts the agricultural production, increases the income of Greek barley growers and finally, strengthens the country’s trade balance.
