Our Beers are made from 100% Greek barley
2008 was the year that we began to put into action one of our main commitments: use 100% Greek barley for the domestic production of our products, while from 2019 we have also proceeded to export Greek barley malt to foreign markets.
Through the Local Barley Sourcing Program that we implement as a company, we cooperate with more than 2,000 Greek producers, in 19 prefectures of the country. This way, we support local communities and economies even further, providing stable income to producers and their families while creating added value and contributing to the development of domestic and agricultural economy.
In 2020, we went one step further and started implementing a certification system for the production of barley, as a product of good (sustainable) agricultural practice, in accordance with the model of TÜV Austria Hellas, thus providing even greater value and a competitive advantage to the primary product produced.
However, our investment plan does not stop here, as we also support the Program through our extensive research work. In collaboration with the Agricultural University of Athens, we maintain experimental fields where we test new barley varieties that respond better to the country’s soil and climatic conditions. The specific varieties are being utilized in the Program, thus achieving higher yields and, therefore, higher gains for producers. At the same time, we carry out research programs to reduce carbon dioxide emissions during the cultivation process, and we offer ongoing support and training seminars to producers, aimed at enhancing their know-how.
A “Greek journey” from the field to your glass
In conjunction with the Local Barley Sourcing Program, our two privately-owned breweries in Thessaloniki and Patras guarantee a Greek vertical chain for brewing our beer. We take pride in the fact that our products follow a “Greek journey”, starting at the field through the supply of raw materials and ending inside the glass of consumers who enjoy our products.
